Freight management software company, Forward Solutions, has recently expanded its team, welcoming graduate Will Simister to the Software Development team.

Joining the six-strong department in the firm’s Nottingham headquarters, Will’s appointment is the latest graduate hire by Forward Solutions, as the company looks to the future, by working with universities to unearth the best young talent, to help its growing business.

Will recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a First-Class degree in Software Engineering, and had worked reduced hours for the business, alongside finishing his studies.

Since completing his degree in May, Will has moved to full time work with Forward Solutions, extending his hours from the one day a week he was previously employed for. This experience, alongside his degree, has helped Will slot into his role effectively, enabling the team’s output to increase.

Will added: “Joining Forward Solutions whilst still at university was the best decision I made, it gave me the opportunity to learn their systems, and Forward Office so that now I have started working full time, I have been able to hit the ground running.

“Throughout my onboarding process with the company, the whole team has been fantastic in welcoming me, and making sure that I have everything I need to succeed. The training I have received has put me at ease I’m comforted knowing that I can ask any question without being judged, it’s a very open and positive working environment.

“I believe that gaining experience is key for this industry and having worked during my placement year and studies, I feel I have the confidence to do my job to the high standard Forward Solutions provides to its customers.”

Members of the Software Development department have been on-hand to help train Will since he started his part-time role, helping support his transition to becoming a full-time member of the team.

Richard Litchfield, Managing Director at Forward Solutions said: “Will has settled into his role extremely well, and is already a vital part of the team.

“Will has been working closely with the team, as he’s been learning the software we use, and gain an understanding of the processes across all of our modules in the Forward Office suite. It is fantastic to see his eagerness to learn and adapt to each scenario he has encountered since he joined us, I’m sure he will continue to progress professionally throughout his time here.

“It’s great to see the team expanding, with new and intuitive projects on the way, it is the perfect time for Will to join us and I’m really impressed with what he has managed to do so far.”
