Ship owners and managers will gather in Singapore next week to examine the latest industry developments and international concerns surrounding the notion that today’s shipping industry is not immune to the global terrorist threat – be it physical or across the internet.
Taking place at the Singapore headquarters of international law firm Reed Smith on Monday, 3rd October, the International Shipowning & Shipmanagement Summit (ISSS) will ask the thought provoking question: Is your ship as safe as it should be in today’s dangerous world?
Key aspects such as how well do you, as owners and managers, know your crew and is enough being done to protect them, the ship, as well as the cargo will be debated at the Summit.
Organised by Shipping Innovation, organisers of the highly successful London International Shipping Week and European Shipping Week, ISSS is being held in association with InterManager, the international trade association for third party and in-house ship managers, and will be chaired by InterManager’s Secretary-General Capt Kuba Szymanski.
The Summit is generously sponsored by Reed Smith, KVH, MTI Network, The Thome Group, World-Link Communications and Gray Page and is supported by the international shipping industry including the International Chamber of Shipping whose Chairman, Esben Poulsson, will deliver the keynote address.
Sean Moloney, Director of Shipping Innovation and Editorial Director of Ship Management International, will chair one of the afternoon panel discussions. He said: “The changing global political situation has thrust the issues of crew and vessel safety firmly under the spotlight.
