Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has become the latest high level maritime organisation to underline its commitment to London International Shipping Week 2019 (LISW19) by confirming its sponsorship of the headline conference to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on Thursday September 12th, 2019.

DMCA Executive Director Amer Ali, said: “Dubai’s maritime sector is moving ahead with its strategic plan to make Dubai one of the world’s leading maritime centres, and being associated with LISW19 is a fantastic opportunity that supports our efforts in this regard. Significantly, the UAE and the UK have a strategic long-term relationship that we cherish and build upon by participating in LISW19. The Dubai vision is to create a maritime destination that is welcoming to all businesses and people from all over the world, and working with London in this regard supports the realisation of this vision.”

Announcing the news, Nawfal Al-Jourani, Chief Officer at the Dubai Maritime Cluster Office (DMCO), said Dubai and London shared a common commitment to the growth and prosperity of the global maritime sector through thought leadership and strong cooperation.

“Maritime clusters are vitally important to the growth of commerce and trade and LISW19 represents an ideal opportunity for effective networking between the leaders of global shipping and the sharing of best practice between the clusters. DMCO is once again delighted to be associated with this excellent event and we look forward to working with the organisers Shipping Innovation to make it an even stronger occasion than in 2017,” he said.

Over 50 international industry trade associations, UK Government departments and the Devolved Administrations have so far signed up as Supporting Organisations of LISW19.

The move is significant so soon into the start of the campaign for the next LISW and is further proof that global shipping considers London International Shipping Week as the ‘must attend’ event in the global maritime calendar.

Listed among those Supporting Organisations that have so far confirmed include major ship owner, ship broking, legal and port associations.
