Wincanton, a UK leader in supply chain solutions provider, has announced the addition of 80 new vehicles and over 270 trailers to its fleet of over 4,000 vehicles as part of its drive to increase the efficiency of its transport network for customers and reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
This expansion follows Wincanton’s investment in 150 vehicles for its container fleet last year. The new Euro 6 specification vehicles boast significantly improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions in line with the latest European Union standards, which cut particulate emissions by 66 per cent and nitrogen oxide by as much as 80 per cent compared to their predecessors.
Over 80 per cent of Wincanton’s vehicle fleet is now Euro 5 specification or above.
To accompany the new vehicles Wincanton has purchased 276 new curtain sided trailers, each of which adhere to the latest load restraint EN12642-XL accreditation and incorporate NWE strapping, which minimises risk of side-shift and increases the safety of the units on the road and at delivery sites.

These new vehicles underline our commitment to continuous improvement and will bring considerable environmental and cost saving efficiencies, as well as maintaining the highest levels of health and safety that our customers have come to expect from us.”
Wincanton’s general haulage fleet is managed through a control tower approach to planning and visibility, which oversees all daily operations to maximise load fill and improve the efficiency of its operations for customers.
