Varlink, the specialist IT distributor based in York, is pleased to announce the launch of the Kenai, the latest rugged tablet computer from Trimble. The Kenai is designed for mobile workers in any environment where a reliable computer is essential, no matter where the job takes them or how long they are out in the field.

Boasting an impressive 10.1” Gorilla Glass sunlight readable display, the Kenai is ideal for mobile workers who require a large screen to complete forms and documents, and the capacitive touchscreen display allows users to operate the tablet whilst wearing gloves or with a stylus.

Providing high performance mobility, the Kenai features Microsoft Windows 10 Professional operating system and 4GB or 8GB DDR3 DRAM. Powered by a 1.46GHz dual-core Intel Atom E3826 processor, the Kenai brings professional grade computing to the field and its hot-swappable battery will ensure the tablet keeps on going from shift to shift without losing power.

Built to survive rain, water, dust and accidental drops, the Kenai offers an IP rating of 65 and a 1.2m drop specification. It’s fully rugged construction has a MIL-STD-810G certification, can withstand solar exposure, and is resistant to mild alkaline and acid cleaning solutions, fuel hydrocarbons, alcohols and common vehicle and factory machine lubricants.

Real-time communication is essential out in the field; the Kenai provides connectivity options including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE GSM WWAN data module capability, allowing users to access documents remotely. The Kenai is designed to connect to other computer equipment easily, offering an RS232 DB 9 Serial Port and 2 USB 2.0 connectors. Its 8MP camera with LED flash allows users to take photographs and video to provide clear status visual out in the field, and geotag to provide security as well as business intelligence.

Featuring an integrated GPS Receiver and antenna supporting several ancillary GNSS protocols which provides mobile workers with accuracy in the range of 2-4 metres, the Kenai is ideal for field mapping, imagery and asset management applications where precision is crucial.

The Kenai provides built-in, certified Trusted Processing Module encryption module to allow security programming for Wi-Fi and direct connect authentication. The tablet is FIPS compliant for security in a variety of mobile device management applications.
