Tea time for Walker

4 March, 21

Rare Tea, a company that has sourced the world’s best teas directly from growers and supplied restaurants, bars, hotels and retail outlets since 2004, has outsourced responsibility for the management of its B2B and rapidly expanding B2C supply chains to Berkshire-based e-commerce fulfillment specialist, Walker Logistics.

With online sales to the public becoming an ever more significant part of Real Tea’s business model, the company sought a logistics partner with the experience and expertise to oversee the smooth running of its various routes to market.

Charlie Walker, marketing director of Walker Logistics, commented: “With internet sales booming, particularly during lockdown periods throughout the pandemic, Real Tea decided to enlist the help of an e-commerce logistics specialist with the IT infrastructure, facilities and staff numbers required to store its product in many different layouts, pick and pack stock into multiple formats and deliver to its diverse client base in the necessary volumes.”

The ‘onboarding’ process is well underway and online orders placed before the agreed cut-off time will be fulfilled each day, while replenishment stock destined for hospitality venues and retailers – including Waitrose – will be dispatched from Walker’s 250,000 sq. ft. multi user facility, which is sited close to Junction 14 of the M4 motorway

Charlie Walker added: “We are looking forward to helping Real Tea to meet its targets in the months ahead by optimising the efficiency of its multi-channel supply chains.”
