A session by the Traffic Commissioners at the Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager autumn conferences includes a staged driver conduct hearing, giving insight into what goes on in the driver conduct process, which can lead to a driver having his vocational licence suspended or even revoked.

James Firth , FTA’s Head of Road Freight Regulation, says:

“The staged hearing at Transport Manager is based upon evidence submitted to a real driver conduct hearing, providing an illustration of what a Traffic Commissioner investigates so that fleet operators can better understand how to manage their drivers effectively. It is proving extremely popular with delegates, because it provides a critical insight into the regulator’s expectations.”

The conference series, sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres, is well under way, with large turnouts in Yeovil, Doncaster and Southampton and seven more events to be held throughout the country, finishing on 28 November at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.

Other subjects to be covered at Transport Manager 2018 include insights from the DVSA, a briefing by Bridgestone Tyres on tyre safety and the environment, Earned Recognition, urban restrictions, lowering your emissions, the role of technology in managing risk, the impact of Brexit, managing your maintenance provider and smart tachographs.

The conferences, which are also sponsored by Brigade Electronics and Microlise, offer a unique opportunity for transport managers to keep their professional knowledge up to date and gain advice and guidance from leading industry experts.

Places are still available for the remaining Transport Manager conferences – for further information or to book a place or call the FTA Member Service Centre on 03717 11 22 22.
