Taylor, the UK’s largest manufacturer of four-wheeled galvanised steel containers, has partnered with Wincanton in a move to boost its domestic growth strategy and as part of its commitment to providing responsive and comprehensive fleet management throughout the UK.
The deal, which will enable Taylor to scale its manufacturing business at the same time as tapping in to Wincanton’s established UK logistics network, will add value to the Taylor offering by providing greater geographical reach, improved flexibility for its customers and speedier distribution times.
On the partnership, Brendan Murphy, Taylor’s CEO comments: “Taylor is enjoying a period of high demand and in order to meet this demand in parallel with growing the business we must focus on what we do best, which is manufacturing. Our partnership with Wincanton will enable Taylor to remain competitive, strengthen Taylor’s position throughout the UK and allow us to reallocate resource to areas of the business where we can add value.”
Wincanton will now be responsible for managing Taylor’s domestic transport through its network of 15,500 employees, 200 sites and a fleet of 3,600 vehicles.
Chris Kingshott, Managing Director of Manufacturing at Wincanton, adds: “Our scale and experience in managing outsourced transport operations means that Taylor’s management can focus on their core business of manufacturing, enabling them to meet the high demand for their products and grow their business safe in the knowledge that their products and customers are being expertly cared for. Our strategy is built around continuous improvement, and we’re looking forward to working in partnership with Taylor to deliver immediate benefits and value to their business.”
The partnership between Wincanton and Taylor follows contract renewals for the logistics provider with Magnet and Heinz.
