Onward Holdings open to offers for new logistics facility

As the impact of the coronavirus pandemic subsides, more businesses will be seeking to make up lost ground by fixing their disrupted supply chains and securing a high-quality logistics facility in a prime location of the type that has been put on the market by commercial property specialist Onward Holdings Ltd.

Family-run company Onward is open to offers for a unit on the sought-after Normanton Industrial Estate in Wakefield that offers approximately 24,585sqft of warehouse space, with significant office accommodation, on the doorstep of the M62 motorway and with a generous private yard area for truck manoeuvrability to facilitate a steady flow of goods.

Onward has invested in general improvements at the Ripley Close property, both internally and externally including re-sheeting of the front elevation and upgrading of the main entrance and reception areas. The site is available to lease and additional work will be considered to suit an occupier’s requirements.

The warehouse areas are split into two comprising around 6,072sqft and 15,630sqft of floor space, 6m to the eaves with two ground level doors. Site security is provided by palisade fencing, security gates and fully monitored CCTV.

Normanton Industrial Estate is part of the West Yorkshire warehouse and distribution hub and is already home to several blue-chip companies, so the new occupier of the Ripley Close site will be in good company. It’s another example of the significant investment by Onward in Yorkshire warehouse facilities in prime locations like Cross Green in Leeds and the recent construction of Phoenix 66 on the Green Lane Industrial Estate in Featherstone.

With demand for prime logistics facilities intensifying, driven by the shift from bricks-and-mortar to e-commerce operations as more people switch to online shopping, Onward Holdings Director Neil Storey sees the company’s expanding portfolio of quality warehouse units providing a much-needed boost for the region.

He said: “As those businesses hit hardest by the pandemic get back on their feet a shortage of logistics capacity could hamper the UK’s economic recovery, which is why we are actively looking for further properties, and land suitable for development, in Yorkshire.”

The fourth-generation family-run business operates high quality industrial warehousing. Its sites include Castleford, Doncaster, Ackworth, Scunthorpe and Featherstone. Onward Holdings also built Onyx Retail Park, the successful shopping and eating destination on the former Manvers colliery in South Yorkshire.

Promotion of the unit on Ripley Close is handled by Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield. For further information please contact Andrew on 0114 236 2340.
