The largest British logistics business, Wincanton, has launched a new container storage facility in Bourn, Cambridgeshire, designed to provide greater flexibility for customers using the Port of Felixstowe.

Located at a former airfield on the A14 artery, the site offers capacity for several thousand containers and has been created to meet the growing demand for better value, conveniently located off-quay storage that allows customers to make more reactive decisions about stock management to meet consumer demand.

Chris Fenton, Managing Director at Wincanton, commented:

“Our new facility in Bourn offers customers the flexibility that they require to meet changing consumer demands, creating a more efficient supply chain and a better value alternative to on-quay storage.

“From our continuous conversations with our partners and customers we know this is a facility that will benefit them. We see this as another important step in working with our business partners to streamline their supply chains and add value to their business.”

The launch of the Bourn facility closely follows Wincanton’s recent investment at the Port of Southampton, in response to growing customer demand for port-centric logistics operations.

Wincanton operates and manages the supply chain for some of the UK’s largest businesses, across numerous sectors including retail, construction, defence, energy and manufacturing.
