Black Country firm Brital RKG has set the seal on its biggest contract to date by investing in in a pair of eye-catching white vans from Mercedes-Benz.

Supplied by Dealer Midlands Truck & Van, both are dynamic Sport 116 BlueTEC variants of the latest-generation, mid-sized Vito range. They ride on 17-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels and feature colour-coded bumpers, chrome trim and sidebars, as well as custom Sport mats. To complement its style, the model also offers outstanding performance, practicality and safety.

Brital RKG is based in Wednesbury, West Midlands, and specialises in the installation and repair of aluminium glazing systems. The company’s portfolio encompasses windows, doors, shop fronts and curtain walling, while it also supplies architectural aluminium, glass and louvre systems to customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

Founded more than 20 years ago by Managing Director Dave Grigg, Brital RKG last year turned over a record £1.8 million. This achievement owed much to a prestigious contract to refurbish The Mailbox shopping complex in Birmingham city centre.

“That was the biggest job we’ve done to date,” recalled Mr Grigg. “We had a team of 20 on it for 10 months, which meant that it represented a very big commitment for a business of our size. But it gave us a great opportunity to demonstrate our ability to handle major, high-profile projects, and I’m confident that it will now be a springboard for future success.”

Brital RKG’s mixed-marque fleet of 17 vans includes one other Mercedes-Benz, a 2009 Vito. The Compact- and Long-bodied Vito Sports, though, are its first new vans to wear three-pointed stars. They have been assigned to ‘fixers’ Adrian Clarke – who is married to Mr Grigg’s daughter – and Nick Dudley, who use them to transport tools and equipment, including laser levelling devices, to and from job locations.

“The lads are both made up with these vehicles, which is not surprising because they’ve been really spoilt,” said Mr Grigg. “Their Vito Sports are loaded with ‘spec’ including air conditioning, Comfort seats with armrests and multi-function steering wheels for hands-free operation of the satellite navigation, phone and entertainment systems. Plus, of course, they look fantastic!”

He continued: “Mercedes-Benz is renowned as the premier van manufacturer, its range boasting an unrivalled reputation for reliability, fuel efficiency and safety. These are all big ‘plus points’ from our point of view, because we do a lot of miles – we’re up in Scotland this week and have even been to Gibraltar recently.

“So of course, when I decided to buy two new vehicles my first call was to Midlands Truck & Van. The Dealer’s Sales Executive Rob Lynock was brilliant; he has a great personal touch and couldn’t have made the process easier for me, while the Mercedes-Benz finance deal he arranged was also very competitive. It all added up to a great package.”

The Vito Sport 116 BlueTEC is powered by an advanced, 2.1-litre twin-turbo diesel that meets Euro 6 emissions regulations and produces a sprightly 163 hp and 380 Nm of torque, yet is nevertheless capable of an outstanding 47.1 mpg (combined cycle).

The reassuring armoury of safety equipment fitted as standard includes Adaptive ESP®, ATTENTION ASSIST, Crosswind Assist and driver and passenger airbags, while like all Mercedes-Benz Vans the Vito Sport also comes with a three-year, unlimited mileage warranty and MobiloVan cover, which includes free roadside assistance for up to 30 years, provided the vehicle is maintained within the manufacturer’s official Dealer Network.
