FTA, the organisation which speaks for the UK’s logistics industry, has presented Menzies Distribution’s Swindon depot with its prestigious Roadworthiness Award. The FTA’s Roadworthiness Award, introduced in 2007, has been given in recognition of Menzies Distribution consistently high standards in maintaining its fleet of 18 vehicles, tractor units and trailers, and control of safety-related defects based at this site.

“Maintaining fleets to the highest standards of safety and compliance is a priority for FTA and its members,” says Patrick Cobb , FTA’s Contract Manager, “and it is a task which Menzies Distribution excels at. Its fleet management team is dedicated to maintaining the very highest safety and compliance levels and this award is a reflection of the exacting standards against which the Menzies Distribution team operates its vehicles. FTA’s Roadworthiness Award is a very well-deserved acknowledgement of all their efforts – they set a very high benchmark and continually exceed expectations.”

As part of the association’s services to its members, FTA provides a vehicle inspection service which helps organisations to ensure they are achieving the very highest levels of safety and compliance and, as Cobb continues, the service has helped support Menzies Distribution to achieving consistently high levels of vehicle safety:

“Operating logistics vehicles on Britain’s roads is a challenging task with constantly changing conditions that keep businesses from across the sector on their toes. FTA has supported Menzies Distribution for the past 14 years with Compliance Audits through its Vehicle Inspection Service and this has ensured that the company continues to achieve consistently high levels in compliance and Roadworthiness. The management team at Menzies Distribution has set a high benchmark for itself and other operators when it comes to vehicle compliance, and it is a huge honour to provide recognition for the efforts of depot manager Gary Foster and his team, based in Swindon, for all their efforts in ensuring the Menzies Distribution vehicle fleet is safe and compliant at all times.”

Gary Foster of Menzies Distribution said: “Menzies Distribution prides itself on having the highest of standards and we are delighted that the maintenance and safety standards we set for our fleet have been recognised with this prestigious award. Menzies Distribution has a fleet of over 1200 vehicles travelling in excess of 49 million miles per year, and ensuring they are well maintained is a foundation for our reliable ‘just in time’ logistics service.”
