Keeping The Water Flowing Across Europe.

Orbit, a leading manufacturer and supplier of irrigation products worldwide, has outsourced control of its downstream supply chain to Berkshire-based, Walker Logistics.

Under the terms of the agreement, Walker will be responsible for storing, picking, packing and distributing Orbit’s range to irrigation system distributors and installers in countries throughout mainland Europe.

Given the nature of the market that it operates within, Orbit relies on an efficient logistics operation: quite simply, if an irrigation system fails it is essential that any replacement parts required to fix it are supplied quickly and accurately, so picking errors cannot be tolerated.

“Orbit’s distributors hold minimal stock so orders are supplied on a just-in-time basis, and a picking error could lead to unacceptable system downtime and greatly damage a distributor partner’s relationship with its client,” explains William Walker, sales director of Walker Logistics.

The contract will operate from Walker Logistics’ 250,000 sq. ft. fulfilment and distribution centre, which is located close to Junction 14 of the M4 motorway

William Walker added: “We are very pleased to be working with Orbit and look forward to helping the company maximise the efficiency of its supply chain.”
