FTA’S Logistics Awards Return For A Third Star-Studded Evening.

29 April, 19

FTA’s Logistics Awards, now recognised as the blue riband event in the logistics industry’s calendar, will return for the third time on Thursday 24 October 2019 to celebrate the achievements of one of the UK’s most vital industries.

The awards ceremony, to be held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, will once again be hosted by one of the UK’s leading comedians, with household name Ed Byrne confirmed as the entertainment act for this year’s event. Byrne, whose career is now in its third decade, is best known for his work on shows including Mock the Week, the BBC Stand Up Show and Jonathan Ross’ Big Big Talent Show. A regular on the comedy circuit, Ed’s last five tours have been sell-outs nationwide, and his appearance at the FTA Logistics Awards will take place during his latest tour, which will start in Edinburgh in August.

“We are thrilled to have secured a major name like Ed to host this year’s Logistics Awards,” says David Wells, FTA’s Chief Executive, “to reflect the prestige and influence which the event now has. To have the opportunity to witness such a world-class talent up close and personal does not come along every day, and I am certain he will add plenty of star quality to what is now established as the must attend event of the logistics calendar.”

Entries are now open for the awards, which will be awarded in the following categories:

Van Operator of the Year
Air Business of the Year
Water Business of the Year
Road Freight Operator of the Year
Retail/Manufacturing Shipper of the Year
Logistics Partner of the Year
Public Services Operator of the Year
Most Innovative Company of the Year
Most Innovative Product of the Year
Diversity Champion of the Year
Rising Star of the Year

The FTA Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to an individual nominated by the FTA Board.

“Without the logistics and supply chain industry, Britain would not be able to continue trading effectively, at home and overseas,” continues David Wells, “and these awards give us the chance to recognise the amazing contributions made by companies of every size and in every transport mode.

“Our industry has always been renowned for its innovation, excellence and dedication and the FTA Logistics Awards give us a great showcase at which to celebrate our successes. I look forward to meeting up with colleagues old and new at the Park Plaza to recognise the extraordinary talents of our sector, and celebrate our achievements in the face of some tough trading conditions over the past 12 months.”

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.  A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to Government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
