Freight Forwarder expands services in response to Brexit

A Suffolk-based freight company has bolstered its customs services in light of the disruption caused by the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Award-winning freight forwarder Morrison Freight has announced it’s expanding its customs offering to provide additional services to new and current customers.

As a result of Brexit, any goods that cross the border between the UK and the EU are liable for customs procedures.

This means the transporting of goods requires an increased amount of admin and data collection, making it more difficult for businesses to manage – particularly if they don’t have the relevant expertise or software in-house.

Morrison Freight already boasts a team of experienced haulage experts specialising in European logistics and road freight solutions, so this new offering provides the full package for customers.

Director, Darren Ryan said: “Here at Morrison Freight we have been offering customs services on work we have been involved in for a while now, but we are excited to be in a position to extend our services.

“The team is highly experienced in this area and will be able to guide you through every aspect of the customs process, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of your cargo.”

This comes as reports suggest the impact of Brexit and COVID could have a damaging effect on the supply chain in the lead up to Christmas.

A combination of staff shortages and global shipping issues means supply of turkeys, Christmas trees and certain presents will be low this year.

Darren’s fellow director, Lee Steward commented: “The shortage of lorry drivers is a massive issue for our industry and this is having an impact on the timing of deliveries, meaning certain products aren’t as readily available as they were pre-pandemic/Brexit.

“However, despite these obstacles, we’re proud to be doing our part in keeping the supply chain moving and we will continue to invest in new software and training to ensure our customers can benefit from the best possible service when working with us.”
