Colchester-based Carrier Transicold Eastern achieved one of the highest scores ever in the 2016 “Carrier Safe” awards, securing the health and safety programme’s top spot for the second year running with a total of 99 per cent. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold (UK) Limited, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The awards, established in 2011 by Carrier Transicold UK in conjunction with the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF), were created to promote Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) best practices across Carrier Transicold UK’s network of 15 service partners in the UK and Ireland. In addition to honouring any areas of improvement, the highest achieving service partners also have the opportunity to conduct further training with the EEF.

“This year the average score across the network was 92 per cent – a new high for the awards, and a figure that has increased each year since the creation of the programme,” said Scott Dargan, managing director, Carrier Transicold, Northern Europe and Service EMEAR. “Safety is a key focus for Carrier Transicold, and the awards provide an additional incentive to our network service partners to continually evaluate their performance, and strive for the highest possible standards.

“We also work with the EEF to identify any areas for improvement using a stringent 171-point judging criteria,” added Dargan. “This allows each centre to develop a plan to raise the EH&S bar even higher, and offer our customers peace of mind that they are working with true professionals.”

Cambuslang-based Carrier Transicold Glasgow took second place in the awards, with Liverpool’s Carrier Transicold Northwest, Stockton-On-Tees-based Carrier Transicold Northern and Oldham’s Carrier Transicold Manchester jointly achieving third place.

Each network service partner is an independent company that provides support to customers operating Carrier Transicold equipment. The network collectively employs more than 155 mobile service engineers supporting the full range of light commercial vehicle, truck and trailer refrigeration equipment.
