‘Bute’ and ‘Iona’ sail effortlessly into Junk It’s 100% Isuzu fleet

In just four years since they acquired their first ever Isuzu, Scottish house clearing company ‘Junk It’ is now 100% Isuzu with its fleet of collection vehicles. During 2020, Junk It has added two further new Isuzu Grafter 3.5 tonne rigids, with a third Grafter scheduled for delivery later this month.

When they join the Junk It collection fleet, each Isuzu truck is given its own individual name that is taken from the Western Isles of Scotland, with the latest two Grafters being christened ‘Bute’ and ‘Iona’ respectively.

Commenting on the arrival of the new Isuzu Grafters, David Malcolm from Junk It said, “Part of our company strategy from day one has been to present a clean and professional image to our customers at all times, setting us apart as a business. We feel that the Isuzu Grafter trucks are a professional mobile advertisement for our business and by having them individually named, we find that even the customers now refer to the trucks by their Island name.”

All the Isuzu Grafter N35.125 collection trucks at Junk It have been supplied by local Isuzu truck dealer Motus Commercials in Glasgow, and feature dedicated purpose designed, and very distinctive, collection bodies that provide a discreet personal service for customers. Junk It anticipates that each new Grafter will be operational for at least 7 years.

“Back in 2016, we were having reliability issues with our incumbent trucks, and following a long conversion with Motus Commercials, who we found to be really knowledgeable and helpful, we took delivery of our very first Isuzu. Almost instantly, we realised that the Grafter was the right truck for our collection business and the rest is history,” said David Malcolm.

David continues, “Not only did the Isuzus have a compact footprint, giving perfect access to customer’s narrow driveways, as well as impressive fuel consumption and payload, but also the drivers found that they were really easy to drive and very manoeuvrable within the busy, crowded roads around the Glasgow and Edinburgh cities.”

Junk It is an eco-conscious, professional, SEPA registered junk and rubbish removal business servicing both residential and commercial customers in central Scotland. It was established in 2006 by David Malcolm with a focus on customer service, a strong clean image and featuring fully trained and uniformed drivers. Originally based in Glasgow, within four years the company had opened a second branch, with this one operating from Edinburgh.

“The junk and rubbish collection industry is certainly one of the toughest working environments but it’s one where the Isuzu Grafter thrives due to its practical design and rugged build quality. Junk It work their Grafters hard and, as they have experienced over the past four years, the Grafter is proven to be totally fit for purpose,” said Bob Doherty, network business manager, Isuzu Truck UK.
