Protyre Autocare has been recognised with a national award for its work to remove 7,000 illegal tyres from the UK’s roads every month.

The business, which is the UK’s fastest growing automotive services provider, picked up the Tyre Retailer of the Year prize at the 20th annual TyreSafe Awards, held at The Belfry in Warwickshire earlier this month (June 10).

The event was attended by more than 200 delegates from across the road safety, automotive, enforcement, retail, manufacturing and public sectors – all brought together by the growing recognition that tyre safety has a vital role to play in reducing road casualties.

The judges highlighted the success of Protyre Autocare’s standardised 25-point vehicle health check, introduced in response to data which shows motorists often delay changing tyres which aren’t in road-legal condition. It is carried out across their entire national network and routinely picks up hidden defects.

Praising Protyre Autocare in their feedback, the judges said: “This year’s winner has set an extraordinary benchmark for the entire fast-fit industry.
“Responding proactively to data showing that many motorists delay vital tyre changes, they introduced a standardised, comprehensive 25-point vehicle health check across their entire national network.
“The numbers speak for themselves: by identifying hidden defects, they are successfully removing an astonishing 7,000 illegal tyres from UK roads every single month.
