Organisation will highlight customs industry’s vital role in global trade and economic growth
Europe’s leading independent provider of customs clearance and trade solutions has launched a new advisory board to unite top industry experts and drive innovation.
Customs Support Group has announced the creation of its Industry Advisory Board (IAB) to reinforce its position as market leader and highlight the customs industry’s vital role in global trade and economic growth.
The IAB is launched at a pivotal moment, as customs management becomes increasingly critical for international businesses navigating geopolitical tensions and tariff disputes, regulatory changes and rapidly-shifting global supply chains.
John Wegman, CEO of Customs Support Group, said: “The demand for customs expertise has never been higher, so with the IAB we are making sure we stay ahead – not just by attracting the best talent, but by leveraging their knowledge to navigate changes in the market, shape new opportunities and ensure CSG continues to lead the industry and deliver greater value to our clients.”
The IAB is chaired by Friederike Engelken, a recognised leader in customs and trade strategy, who combines her extensive hands-on experience with the heritage of Germany-based WZC Riemann, one of the oldest customs agencies in Europe, with almost 150 years of expertise.
Friederike said: “The IAB is about bringing together CSG’s exceptional network of expertise and putting it to work for the future. By combining different perspectives, we can generate fresh ideas, stronger connections, and real value for our clients and our industry.”
Led by Friederike, the board currently comprises seven highly-experienced members:
- John Dawson, an expert in customs brokerage and logistics management with more than 35 years’ experience, and founder of Bell Transport and Logistics in Ireland
- Ton van Grinsven, a founding member of CSG, based in the Netherlands, with more than 30 years’ experience in global customs and logistics
- Harald Halvorsen d.y., a fourth-generation customs and freight forwarding expert, who represents the legacy of Harald Halvorsen Spedisjon AS – one of Norway’s oldest and most respected customs brokers
- Claudia Strobel, co-founder of the German iZD Gruppe, who has more than 25 years of experience specialising in digital processes, management, marketing and human resources
- Gerd Strobel, a strategic consultant and expert in customs clearance and professional training with nearly 40 years’ experience, who has been instrumental in shaping iZD Gruppe’s growth
- Mark Taylor, a seasoned expert in digital customs brokerage, duty management and international trade processes, with more than 35 years’ experience. He is one of the founders of UK-based Britannia Bureau Ltd
- Peter Wolf, a distinguished logistics professional with more than 45 years’ experience. He has led major operations across Europe in shipping, agency management and supply chain strategy and is a partner at WCL – Worldwide Consultants in Logistics GmbH, Germany
John added: “These leaders offer a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience across customs, logistics and international trade. Many of them previously founded and led market-leading customs agencies that were later acquired by CSG and now contribute their knowledge to guide the company’s strategy, strengthen client relationships and expand its international network.
“By leveraging the amplified expertise of its IAB members, Customs Support Group aims to continue enhancing its visibility, forward-looking development and strategic impact, remaining at the forefront of a more crucial-than-ever customs industry.”
