Inventor of the world’s only multi-piece rubber Runflat system, Tyron Runflat, has partnered with leading road safety charity, TyreSafe, in a bid to deepen and raise greater awareness of the importance of road and tyre safety.

Known for its innovative runflat tyre safety systems, Tyron Runflat works extensively within the defence industry around the world, with its products fitted on military vehicles in more than 70 countries, but also on commercial, civilian and leisure vehicles. This latest partnership furthers Tyron’s support for tyre safety, joining TyreSafe’s mission to raise awareness and provide life-saving solutions to all vehicle road users.

TyreSafe’s research identifies on average, annually in the UK, 159 people are killed or seriously injured due to tyre defects. Additionally, the charity finds that there are roughly 10 million, which is 1 in 4, illegal tyres on Britain’s roads each year.

Peter Simson, Director at Tyron Runflat, commented: “Formally joining TyreSafe’s mission is the latest step we’ve taken to show our continued, and very public, support for tyre safety. Whether its commercial vehicles, civilian cars or military armoured vehicles, it is vital that individuals take the necessary steps to protect themselves and other road users.
“For example, our Tyron Multiband is a life-saving system which locks the tyre onto the wheel rim in the event of a blowout, preventing loss of control, giving the driver and passengers the ability to get to a safe location.
“Our products have been specifically designed to create a life-saving solution which will keep all road users safe in the event of a blowout or puncture. Tyre safety is a top priority for us as we have made it our mission to create industry leading solutions, and as we partner with TyreSafe we’re proud to be stepping forward and sharing our joint goals.”
Sharing insight on Tyron’s recent support and why TyreSafe is focused on joining businesses together to tackle tyre safety is Chairman of TyreSafe, Stuart Lovatt: “Sudden tyre deflation is one of the most dangerous situations a driver can face, whether on a motorway, rural road, or in any vehicle. Tyron Runflat’s knowledge and real-world experience in helping drivers stay in control during these events is a welcome addition to our collective mission. Their support will help us reach more drivers with life-saving advice on how to prevent, respond to, and reduce the risks associated with tyre failure.”

Building on its recent expansion with a brand-new purpose-built manufacturing and testing facility in Pattaya, Thailand, the Leicestershire-headquartered business is now looking for a new long-term mobile fitting partner. Aiming to provide an accessible service to civilian vehicles, Tyron is looking to invest in a fitting partner to provide a door-to-door service, ensuring its life-saving systems are available to all.

Established in 2001, Tyron Runflat is focused on raising awareness and educating all road users. Through a partnership with a scalable mobile fitter, it hopes to increase civilian awareness and tackle the challenges concerning daily tyre maintenance.

Peter concluded: “Despite the country’s economic difficulties, we have experienced a steady period of growth and investment. From increasing our manufacturing capabilities by more than double, to onboarding specialist hires within our team, we hope to continue building on our positive trajectory. Joining forces with TyreSafe, and a potential new mobile-fitter, will help to grow access to our products across the country. A mobile fitter is the latest stage of our investment plans, which goes one step further in showing our commitment to boosting tyre safety.”
