Brocklehurst Transport has reached a new operational safety benchmark after achieving the FORS Silver accreditation, in a bid to improve safety, sustainability and efficiency.
Established in 1986, Brocklehurst Transport offers a complete logistics solution with a range of general haulage, distribution and storage services from its site in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. As a long-standing member of the Fortec distribution network and a recent addition to Pall-Ex, Brocklehurst Transport has demonstrated its commitment to implementing best practise across the business in order to deliver service excellence to customers.
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver accreditation recognises a commitment to high compliance with the relevant standards, with a particular focus on managing road risk, high standards of legal compliance, safety efficiency and environmental protection.
In 2018, the company achieved FORS Bronze, with the business employing good transport practices in line with the FORS Standards. This included demonstrating dedication to driver and vehicle safety and improving operating practices through the monitoring of fuel and tyre usage.
Since being awarded and maintaining the FORS Bronze accreditation, Brocklehurst Transport has invested heavily in new vehicles, trailers and vehicle safety equipment to meet the FORS Silver accreditation. The business has implemented a company-wide focus on the enhanced safety efficiencies and environmental standards required to achieve the silver accreditation.
FORS Silver places more of an emphasis on physical vehicle safety, with the requirement of equipment including Blind Spot Cameras, Side Scan Sensor Systems and Left Turn and Reversing Alarms.
Dave Webster, Managing Director of Brocklehurst Transport, comments: “We are committed to a programme of continuous improvement with our drivers and fleet. Our recent FORS Silver accreditation demonstrates that the team are always looking to take our safety and fleet operational standards to the next level. I would also like to say a big thank you to Paul Smithson of Protea Training for guiding us through the application process.”
