Cardiff operator hits the right note with time sensitive cargo

Cardiff-based European road freight operator, Europa Road, is marking the successful delivery of a harp, just in time for the International Welsh festival – Eisteddfod.

The local team of seven, based at Cardiff Gate Business Park, Regus, Malthouse Ave, Ponteprennau, recently successfully transported a harp for Cambrian Harps from Brandenburg, Germany to the Eisteddfod festival.

Chelsea Bartlett, Cardiff Branch Manager comments: “This was a time sensitive operation which meant our team had to guarantee the best solution to ensure a smooth and reliable delivery. Not only were the tight time constraints a real focus for us, but this cargo was also delicate and needed to be handled with care throughout the transporting process. I’m really proud of the Cardiff team for executing this job seamlessly, ensuring the harp was where it needed to be at the right time.”

Not only did the team hit the right note with this customer, but in June the branch exceeded its consignment record by logging an impressive 300 consignments for the month.

Cardiff is one of Europa Road’s most recent branch additions, having opened in May 2022. The division is part of Britain’s largest independent international road freight provider, Europa Worldwide Group, which has a total of 17 branches across the UK and Ireland. As customs specialists, the local team is dedicated to servicing regional businesses exporting to and from the EU.

Chelsea continued: “The customer had previously experienced challenges with customs clearance when transporting out of the EU into the UK but due to our evolving infrastructure we were able to guarantee a local, reliable and efficient service.

“This consignment was shipped groupage on FCAFPI terms (Free Carrier, Fees Paid by Importer) which means we complete both sides of customs clearance for exporting out of the EU and importing into the UK, reducing hassle and delays.”

The Department of Business and Trade recently reported that the trade of goods from Germany to Wales totalled £1.2 billion in 2023. To boost the trading relationship between Wales and the EU, Europa Road opened its Cardiff branch as part of its half-million-pound investment in its UK European Road Freight branch network.

Adrian Redmile, Branch Network and Sales Director, commented: “Across our branches we manage some really unique cargo and Cardiff is no exception with its latest job. This is a great example of how our expertise and infrastructure, despite the tight time frames, can ensure the seamless movement of goods between the EU and the UK.

“We recognised early on that customs were a real pain point for businesses exporting post-Brexit, so we developed Europa Flow, our DDP solution, which takes care of the customs paperwork ensuring a frictionless flow of goods. I’d like to say a huge well done to our Cardiff team for not only the success with this job, but also reaching a record number of consignments going through the branch in one month, keep up the great work!”
