Northgate, the UK’s leading rental and mobility solutions provider is supporting The Nurture Group with its sustainability target to be net zero by 2030.

The Nurture Group, a national service provider consisting of three brands: Nurture Landscapes, Gavin Jones and Rokill Pest Control Services, has been a Northgate customer since 2018 and runs a fleet of more than 420 vehicles.

The company specializes in grounds maintenance, landscape construction, pest control , winter gritting and interior and exterior plants resulting in a fleet that has wide ranging daily mileages and vehicle usage. The Nurture Group, driven by its dedication to sustainability and enhanced energy efficiency, identified that approximately 50% of its carbon footprint stemmed from its lower mileage commercial vehicles, realizing that fleet electrification was the most effective way to reduce its overall emissions.

Commencing its electrification journey with the help of Northgate’s Drive to Zero program and following an invitation to one of Northgate’s EV roadshows, a thorough fleet analysis was undertaken to identify which of The Nurture Group’s vehicles could be transitioned immediately to EVs based on their usage. The first vehicles to be replaced by eLCVs were small to medium sized vans which travelled less than 150 miles per day including the LEVC, Renault e-Kangoo, the Mercedes-Benz eVito and the Peugeot e-Expert.

Northgate’s 12 months+ and flexible hire packages will ensure that The Nurture Group has the access it needs to new, reliable and efficient vehicles, on flexible terms to suit the transition of the rest of its fleet over time.

The Nurture Group has also successfully implemented a greener company car policy, featuring a fleet composition of 87.5% electric and hybrid vehicles, of which a significant majority are fully electric.

Neil McCrossan, Sales and Marketing Director of Northgate commented: “Northgate’s Drive to Zero fleet electrification program has been running for more than 12 months and has been helping businesses begin the process of electrifying their fleets. The Nurture Group is a great example of a smooth, efficient, and stress-free transition to a sustainable fleet that can be implemented over time.”

Asim Iqbal, Plant Machinery and Fleet Manager at The Nurture Group said: “With a mission to reduce our carbon footprint and become Net Zero by 2030, Northgate has been a huge help to us in working towards this. The friendly team provided in depth advice and support along the way which has helped reduce our costs and attract more business.”
