At a time of change in the air and sea freight sector, Europa Air & Sea has further strengthened its UK management structure.

Europa Air & Sea has opened offices in Shanghai, Dubai, Shenzhen and most recently in Delhi (India), quadrupling its global position over the last 12 months.

Now the operator is investing further in its UK operation with the appointment of its first General Manager for the UK & Ireland, Miles O’Donnell. This important step forms part of a restructure of one of the fastest growing air and sea freight providers, with Europa Air & Sea now having over 100 staff globally.

As well as a growing international footprint, the company has also continued with its organic growth strategy in the UK, increasing the number of Business Development Managers to ensure specialist air and sea freight expertise is easily accessible to localised customers.

Europa Air & Sea is a part of Europa Worldwide Group, an ambitious UK-headquartered logistics provider, that is setting the pace in the market and leading the sector at a time of change.

With almost two decades of experience working in transport and logistics and 10 years at Europa Worldwide Group, Miles becomes responsible for both the sales and operational sides of the UK team. As well as local branch presence across the UK & Ireland, Europa’s main airfreight team is based in Heathrow and its seafreight team in Birmingham.

International Air Transport Association (IATA) has just released data (for July 2023) for the global air cargo markets, showing a positive trajectory. Air cargo demand in July was tracking at just 0.8 per cent below the previous year, marking an improvement on recent months’ and is significant given recent declines in trade volumes globally.

In addition, after a slow demand for seafreight at the start of this year, there are signs of a recovery in the second half of 2023. It has been reported that there could be growth of 1-2 percent during this period with continued slight increases in 2024, as the global supply chain starts to stabilise post Covid and Ukraine conflict.

Angus Hind, Director of Europa Air & Sea, comments: “The industry has seen a slow down during the first half of 2023, our restructure and new appointment comes against a backdrop of some optimism in the sector, after a tough 12 months.

“Miles’ new role will give him responsibility for both the operations and sales of the division in the UK.

“With the challenging global and UK economy, businesses everywhere are seeking out high-quality services at the most cost-effective price, air and sea freight is no exception.

I’m delighted that Miles will be leading our UK team and continuing to drive our ambitious organic growth strategy, leading our excellent team as Europa Air & Sea continues to flourish.”

Europa Worldwide Group is an ambitious independent logistics operator with three divisions, Europa Road, Europa Air & Sea, and Europa Warehouse, and has been featured in The Sunday Times Top Track 250 for three years. Europa has invested £5 million in its innovative market-leading product, Europa Flow, providing a frictionless flow of goods between the EU and the UK post Brexit. The group employs over 1,400 people with 30 international sites in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Europe, Hong Kong, China and the UAE. The global operator recently reported a record turnover of £302m for the last 12 months, as of August 2022, and remains on track with its ambitious investment programme.
