EKB Container Logistik, a provider of international container transport operations and logistics services for them, took over 23.8 percent of the shares in TRIMODAL Logistik, which has its headquarters in Bremen, on 1 April. TRIMODAL Logistik operates an inland waterway shuttle service between Bremen and Bremerhaven every working day, among other things. The other shareholders are NWL Norddeutsche Wasserweg Logistik, which is part of the Rhenus Group, and EUROGATE INTERMODAL.

NWL Norddeutsche Wasserweg Logistik will in future hold 50.2 percent of the shares in TRIMODAL Logistik, while EUROGATE INTERMODAL has 26 percent. “We’re delighted to have gained a long-term partner as a shareholder in the form of EKB Container Logistik and believe there is huge potential to continue to improve our customer services – particularly in the pick-up and final delivery runs for inland waterway shipments,” says Tim Böttcher, Managing Director of TRIMODAL Logistik.

The container logistics specialist, EKB Container Logistik, is the only company in the sector to cater for the complete Hamburg/Antwerp northern range ports and the associated areas further inland with its ten business sites. “In the light of the increasing ecological requirements demanded by our customers, we’re delighted to enhance the gradual upgrading of our fleet of LNG trucks with the inland waterway activities of TRIMODAL Logistik.

What is already eco-friendly will become even more so,” say Reinhold Döhle and Holger Schulz, Managing Directors of EKB Container Logistik. Both companies are aiming to intensify their long-standing cooperation as a result of joining forces in this way. The goal is to move more containers away from the roads to the inland waterways. They also want to pool the potential for combined traffic from the seaport terminals and those further inland.
