Entries will open soon for a brand-new event in the logistics industry, FTA’s Transport Manager of the Year competition, providing an opportunity for transport managers to showcase their extensive knowledge and gain recognition from other industry professionals.

Fifty finalists, selected by FTA’s Board from all entries received, will take part in a day of competition at the UK head office of event supporters DAF Trucks in Haddenham on 24 April, undertaking a series of role-relevant challenges in order to test the knowledge and skills they need to be a great transport manager.

All participants will then be hosted at a ceremony and lunch on 6 May where the competition’s winners will be recognised, including the overall FTA Transport Manager of the Year. FTA’s Young Transport Manager of the Year will also be recognised, as the competition looks to identify the rising stars within the logistics sector.

As well as gaining recognition from their peers and other industry professionals, there will be some excellent prizes on offer for the award winners. Carlie Nowell, Head of Events for FTA commented,

“As the business organisation representing the logistics industry, FTA is excited to be staging this competition for the first time – as it will be the only event of its kind that tests and celebrates the important work carried out by transport managers. Transport managers play a vital role in logistics operations, keeping vehicles moving and ensuring compliance is maintained, and this competition will provide the very best platform to showcase their skills and demonstrate how their roles are key in keeping Britain trading.

“The Young Transport Manager of the Year” award will also recognise the next generation of emerging talent which will be vital to the continued success of our industry. Young people are the future of our sector, and it is important to recognise the talent of those who will be at the heart of logistics operations nationwide for many years to come.”

Entries will open on 5 February, and further information will be published soon on the FTA website at Click Here

Efficient logistics is vital to keep the UK trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods.  With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
