#AAPALATINO In Miami The Unmissable Event Of The Port And Maritime Industry.

The traditional meeting that is held year after year in different parts of Latin America arrives in Miami -from November 19 to 21- to gather over 400 port executives and international experts, taking a leading place among the business events of this sector.

The program will address the region’s port projects that are being developed and will present logistics and shipping business news, along with intensive social and networking activities and an outstanding, commercial display space in which the industry’s most representative supplier companies will participate.

Experienced analysts and renowned personalities of the sector such as Ricardo Sánchez, of the Trade, Integration and Infrastructure Division of ECLAC-CEPAL; Kathy Metcalf, President & CEO of the Chamber of Shipping of America and Joshua Hurwitz, Senior Consultant at Moffatt & Nichol, will open the business program analyzing “The New Global Economic Environment: Perspectives for the Future of Maritime Transportation and Ports”, under the moderation of Chris Connor, Future President and CEO of AAPA.

The panel coordinated by Jorge Durán, Chief of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports - CIP / OEA, will examine the future for ports in Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica and Chile, and will include Disney Barroca Neto, Fiscal Counsel, Ministry of Infrastructure of Brazil; Andrea Centeno Rodríguez, Executive President of the Port Administration and Economic Development Board of the Atlantic Coast (JAPDEVA) of Costa Rica; Héctor López Gutiérrez, General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine of Mexico and José Luis Domínguez Covarrubias, Deputy Secretary of Transportation of Chile.

To give their view on “Climate Change and its Consequences in Shipping and Port Operations”, addressing the costs and benefits of sustainability as well as IMO standards, experienced industry referents such as Gary P. LaGrange, consultant and President & CEO of Gary LaGrange and Associates, LLC and former president of the Port of New Orleans; Edward Gonzalez, President of Seaboard Marine Ltd, and Gabriel Quadri de la Torre, expert of the Mexican Port Association, and member of the Asociación Mexicana de Infraestructura Portuaria, Marítima y Costera (AMIP). Francisco Javier González Silva, President-Elect of the AAPA Latin American Delegation-Chile will join to open the debate.

Digitization and automation processes, or how the industry can stay technologically up-to-date and respond to the presence of Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Blockchain, will be addressed by Agustina Calatayud, Transportation Specialist of the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB; Kris Kosmala, Director of Smart Port Operations Digital Solutions at Royal Haskoning DHV; Luis Pérez Madariaga, Responsible for Port Business Development at INDRA, and Mario Cordero, Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach. René Van Der Plas, Director of Port of Rotterdam International, will speak about the experience of one of the world's leading port complexes in that area, and Andrew Baskin, Vice President of Global Policy and Commerce of HudsonAnalytix, Inc., will lecture on “Cybersecurity in Logistics and Challenges for Shipping and Ports” -one of the biggest concerns facing the sector. Moderating these issues will be the task of the experienced and recognized professional, Patrick Verhoeven, Director General of Policy and Strategy, International Association of Ports and Harbors - IAPH.

The Cruise industry will occupy an important place in the AAPA conference, with presentations from Humberto de Castro, Managing Director, Curaçao Ports Authority; Gonzalo Mórtola, President of AGP, Port of Buenos Aires, and Dee Cooper, Vice President of Design and Customer Service of Virgin Group, a company betting on luxury cruises and making a significant investment at the Port of Miami.

Added value to the program will be given by the main executives and directives of port administrations, terminals and supply companies, who will analyze the future perspectives of the industry, among whom Francisco Silva Donoso, President of the Board of Empresa Portuaria San Antonio; Miguel Donadío, President, Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca; Sergio Aquino, President, Federação Nacional dos Operadores Portuários (FENOP); Alberto Díaz, President, Administración Nacional de Puertos of Uruguay, Feliciano Spina, Sales Director of Bedeschi; Julián Luna Beckley, CEO of South Point Engineering; Guillermo Misiano, President of PTP Group; Guillermo Gómez Garay, Project Manager of FORCE Technology; Franco Gandolfo, General Manager of Empresa Portuaria Valparaíso and Armando Duarte-Peláez, former AAPA Chairman, stand out.

Two special moments will be the keynote address by the new Minister of Maritime Affairs and Administrator of the Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, Noriel Arauz, and when Juan Kuryla - Director and CEO of PortMiami - invites Mark Montgomery, President and CEO of Ports America to the stage for an in-depth interview.

The icing on the cake will be the “Round table with Shipping Companies and Ports”, a dynamic and unstructured panel, coordinated by Miguel Garín-Alemany, International Development Director, Fundación ValenciaPort. For this session -that promises to be “AAPAsionante” (thrilling in Spanish), according to his own words-, with the participation of announced industry “heavy weights” such as Carlos Urriola, Executive Vice President of Manzanillo International Terminal Panamá S.A (MIT); Héctor Tamburini, Commercial and Logistics Regional Senior Manager, DP World; Ricardo Arten, CEO of Brasil Terminal Portuário; Antonio Domínguez, Area Managing Director for the East Coast of South America at A.P. Moller - Maersk and Maximiliano Alcorta, Regional Operations Manager for the West Coast of South America, Mediterranean Shipping Company.

Altogether, the Congress will provide technical insights on the implementation of transport and port policies, as well as networking and business opportunities, highlighted by having Miami, an internationally recognized city and among the world’s main tourist destinations, as host.
