The Freight Transport Association (FTA) will present the Operator Training Award at The routeONE Excellence Awards, which take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Wednesday 2 November during Euro Bus Expo 2016.

Finalists for the FTA-sponsored award, which will be presented by FTA Chief Executive David Wells, are London Borough of Redbridge, National Express West Midlands, Nottingham City Transport and Reading Buses.

To be shortlisted for this category, entrants had to demonstrate ways in which excellent training produces measurable results, and the benefits of a training regime that goes above and beyond the legal minimum.  The judges were looking for an impressive training portfolio that has expanded from the original core Driver CPC, and quantifiable results which demonstrate how strong commitment to training has had a significant impact on the business.

FTA Chief Executive David Wells said: “This award reflects the importance of a good training regime and the benefits of going further than the bare legal minimum.  The finalists are all to be congratulated on their efforts, and I look forward to presenting the winner with their well-deserved award.”

FTA will be amongst exhibitors from every corner of Europe’s bus and coach industry at Euro Bus Expo 2016, which takes place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 1-3 November.  This leading trade fair for the bus and coach industry covers every aspect of operation, giving direct access to leading manufacturers and suppliers to the bus, coach and community transport industry from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

FTA will be in in hall 5 on stand C18 with information on the Passenger Transport Information and Compliance Service (PTICS), technician training and more. There will be the opportunity to enter a prize draw for the chance to win up to £500 worth of prizes including a free Passenger Operator Licensing Awareness Training (POLAT) course.
