Bid for Bicycle Ambulance Increases Transaid Fleet.

Transaid, the international development charity, will be adding another Bicycle Ambulance to its life saving projects in Africa thanks to sponsorship from SEC Storage, with the official handover held at IMHX 2016.

These simple solutions can result in transformational change for people living in rural areas. For example the MORE MAMaZ programme (Mobilising Access to Maternal Health Services in Zambia) uses bicycle ambulances to increase access to healthcare facilities for expectant mothers and new born babies in remote regions of Zambia.

Support for the Transaid’s programmes continued with funds being raised at the UKWA 2016 Annual Lunch. SEC Storage successfully bid £500 to sponsor a Bicycle Ambulance which will help to improve access to basic services through community based transport systems.

Transaid thanked SEC Storage for their support with the handover of a replica Bicycle Ambulance which was handmade by the people of Sub-Saharan Africa at this year’s International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) 2016.

“In the UK we take many things for granted, including the role the logistics industry plays in delivering and meeting our healthcare needs” commented Dean Kahl, PR & Brand Manager.

“We are very pleased to have supported Transaid on their work for delivering life-saving healthcare to people in Africa”.

“I am also pleased to confirm that SEC Storage has chosen Transaid as our official charity for 2017”.

Gary Forster, CEO of Transaid said: “We are incredibly thankful to SEC Storage for their support. Money donated during the UKWA Lunch will help to continue our work around removing barriers in accessing health by remote communities in Africa”.

“We’re delighted to partner with SEC and look forward to 2017 and our joint initiatives”.

Transaid is a beneficiary charity of SHD Logistics and the official charity partner of the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA). Thanks to the generosity of the UK logistics industry Transaid raised £9,000 at the UKWA Annual Lunch and a further £5,300 at IMHX.
